Online Permit for Rohtang Pass

Rohtang Pass is open for tourists and you can now apply online to acquire permit for Rohtang pass. The details are available on Himachal Tourism’s website.In a move by NGT to preserve the ecosystem, the number of vehicles have been limited to 1200 including petrol and diesel.

The permit available for tourism purposes has validity of 24 hours.  The requisite fee to paid to be paid is as follows –

  • For Car / Jeep : Permit Fee – INR 500; Congestion Charges – INR 50
  • For MUV’s : Permit Fee – INR 500; Congestion Charges – INR 50

The payment of fee is applicable to all vehicles visiting Rohtang pass for tourism purpose. This tax is to be paid on daily basis and accordingly the permits are issued based on daily quota defined by National Green Tribunal(NGT).

You will need –

  1. Valid ID Proof
  2. Valid Pollution Under Check (PUC) Certificate
  3. Vehicle Registration Date (Age of vehicle not to be more than 10 yrs)

With an objective of making it simpler for the tourists, Himachal Tourism has made the status of permits available online. One can also check availability of permits before applying,  here is the link – Availability Status.

The daily quota for petrol cars is 800 and for diesel ones it’s just 400.
