Our fondness for backpacking has taken us on lots of road trips in past five years and maximum of them have been to some location in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal is like assorted bouquet of exotic flowers, you just can’t have enough and can’t get over it, the more you explore, the hungrier you become 🙂
So, in all the road trips we did, primarily Mcleodganj – Dainkund, New Delhi – Spiti, New Delhi – Shimla / Manali / Rohtang, there were few things absolutely common!!
- The School Gang – You are going to witness pure happiness when you’ll run into little kids going to school in blue uniform. So cute they all look !! They have to walk really long distances on a daily basis.
- Be prepared to meet unexpected companions on the road – You are going to find the roads inundated with pashima goats, yaks, cows and sometimes monkeys too 🙂 (though at regular intervals). A must watch short clip here from our Dainkund trip when our bike waded through the goats covered route!!
- The Natural Springs and Streams – Himachal Pradesh provides water to both the Indus and Ganges basins. The perennial rivers of the region are the Chenab, the Ravi, the Beas, the Sutlej and the Yamuna. The road trip in this region will get you to witness beautiful streams at unexpected places and do they look beautiful!!
So people ‘Travel more to find your surprise’ 🙂
The last picture is way beautiful, how far is it from your hometown to these places. And how long it takes to reach.

Thank you ☺️☺️😊😊 we stay in New Delhi currently so distance depends from place to place, like Delhi to McLeodganj is 500 kms approx. These pictures are from McLeodganj – Dainkund bike ride.

Thank you… Yeah it’s not easy for sure. We had to take breaks, take cover in rain and bike becomes a lot slippery too as the ice starts melting and wets the road.

Exactly, that I was thinking. Plus I guess single driven. I observe you go with family? If I am not wrong.
So many things can happened.

I like the last photo best with the mountains in the background. The quote about seeing the world with new eyes is especially meaningful for me. In the area where I have been living for the past 40 years I still discover new things every day.

Thank you Osyth💛💛☺️☺️ Yes, my favorite is the one with kids. We also had an opportunity to talk to them, they walk to school daily as they cannot depend on buses timings in such areas.

Lovely photos! I like the quote on the last photo. Perspective is like lense through which we see the sights before us. My husband would agree with you that he prefers to travel on a bike rather than a car, but traveling with me, car is the option. I once asked him to put a bar behind his bike, his friend called it sissy bar. He never got a chance doing it. On many of our travel, such as Alaska, Australia, he rented a bike to ride for half an hour or so.
Thank you for your visit!
