Day 3 Exploring Colva Beach, the local Market and Margao
Colva Beach is one of those beaches in South Goa that get most swarmed. It’s comparatively closer to the Airport and quite happening too, since it gets so much of crowd all the time. So, if you’re in South Goa and wish to stay out late and enjoy the beach, Colva would be your first choice. All types of water sports facilities are available here. You just need to make a right pick. Here are some of the pictures 🙂 The sky literally turned so beautifully blue that I decided to use the caption – ‘The Blue Evening’!
There are number of eateries and food joints, shops selling varied stuff like Indian Tea, Spices, Jewelry etc. However, being in Delhi we have access to best of the markets and hence these markets didn’t appeal to us much but as a tourist the market is worth exploring. We were staying close to Betalbatim Beach, the place though not very far from Colva but seemed like a different world; except for the famous Martin’s Corner, the place was quiet with limited eating options. So comparatively Colva offered more as a package. There is local market at Colva which is a miniature version of flea market, one needs time to scout around shops to find something amazing. The collection is not really striking but it’s worth the effort for reasonable pricing (INR 100 – INR 400).
Aayansh had loads of fun and we had a great opportunity to photograph him 🙂
Margao – The Cultural Capital
Just 4 kms away from Colva is Margao, better known as the cultural capital. This part of the city feels like one of the metro cities of India, with host of branded and unorganized departmental stores well in place, this is the place to go if you want to indulge more in exploring the local cuisine, dine out, explore bakeries and / or buy vegetables or flowers or anything. While you drive around, enjoy the colorful houses, unique architecture and churches.
Until next post, Keep exploring 🙂

Aayansh had a great time exploring beaches, making sand castles and collecting shells and playing and what not, I have seen when we travel it gives him new experiences and he loves the change 🙂

I have been to Colva beach and found it a bit like Mumbai beaches. I prefer beaches south of Colva.

Absolutely!! It was most crowded and dirty too, since we stayed in South Goa on purpose we explored as much as possible 🙂 I liked Betul and Majorda, Cavelossim even Benaulim. Actually, barring Colva and Benaulim, all other beaches were quiet. Also spent a day in North Goa but I like South Goa more.

The beaches that start just south of Colva and all the way to Mobor are superb! Beaches north of Vagator are good as well. Martin’s corner? Heard a lot but skipped it since I’m not into non-veg…and it is popular for seafood among the foreign tourists.

Thank you Peta☺️☺️ This was our first visit and we liked the place but not a lot… Actually I prefer places which boast of history and monuments and stories… Goa is perfect for a beach vacay.

I’ve been to Colva as part of the bus tour where we visited a couple of beaches after the New Year. That time, I stayed at Palolem and totally love the serene atmosphere. Hope I get to visit sooner.

Palolem is amazing! Goa is so chilled, actually the lifestyle, the people, it feels like a modern version of village to me particularly South Goa. Like, we were staying close to Betalbatim Beach which was few kms away from Betalbatim village, we went to visit the village too.

Thanks for sharing about Betalbatim village and next time will do. Love the serene rural life at Palolem and fell in love with the place instantly. Reminds me I should do a loong loong Goa post from the bus in Pune that broke down at Kolhapur at night 🙂 Thanks for motivating.
