What’s on thy door?

There’s more to temples in India than the deity who adorns the walls and grants so much power to temple that culminates into fan following later. So many time we have heard such phrases –  Lord Krishna’s Maha Mandir; Mata ka bhavya Mandir or Shivji’s temple etc etc. The temple gets its identity and popularity from the deity it houses.

Though on our trips usually do not visit temples a lot but if some temple is known for commendable history to boast of as well as incredible architecture to induce awe we can’t keep it off our list 🙂

On our road trip to Spiti, we observed almost all the temples and monasteries had beautiful rather inspiring doors, sharing few glimpses via this post 🙂

Light up your stay at Sarahan

Visit to Sarahan was part of our recent 10-day tour to Spiti Valley. There are several decent stay options at Sarahan including a PWD Circuit House, the popular Hotel Shrikhand (managed by HPDTC), other hotels and home stays as well.

The PWD guest house in Sarahan is located atop hill which offers gorgeous views of the mountains particularly during sunset. But you need to book rooms in the guest house in advance, you can all the caretaker at least two days in advance to see if the rooms are available. Check out the list with contact details, the budget is around INR 600 – 1000.

Hotel Shrikhand is located in proximity to the Bhimakali temple itself. The budget begins from INR 1600.

Yes!! There are rooms available within the premises of the temple. The experience of staying in the temple complex is indescribable!!! The best part – the rooms are available at ground and first floor. The ones on ground floor cost only INR 350 for night; the ones on first floor cost INR 650 / –

These rooms are pretty clean, have basic amenities and huge washroom (with fitted geyser). There are limited rooms though, in case you wish to stay here and traveling between June to September, just give a call for confirmation / advance booking. There is a canteen right besides the rooms where fresh food is cooked and served.

Sarahan – Peaceful abode of Goddess Bhimakali

Visit to Sarahan was part of our recent road trip to Spiti Valley. We did a road trip from New Delhi – Spiti – New Delhi in April 2016 with our 11 months old little love.We reached Sarahan on Day 3 of our memorable journey.

Sarahan has a surreal peaceful charm. Sarahan is a beautiful village , just 17 kms off the main road (from Jeori), adorned by impressive Bhimkali Temple that is 800 years old and gorgeous Shrikand peak viewsSarahanThe architecture of the temple is strikingly beautiful, with the Shrikhand Peak in background the place simply looks truly beautiful.
